What is the difference between business and device contacts?
Business contacts are created and saved in the iPlum app secure container. They are not saved in your phone’s iOS/Android address book.
Device contacts reside on your phone address book. They are visible in iPlum app but not saved in the app. When you make changes on your phone’s address book, they will get reflected in device contacts section in iPlum app.
Why do you need to grant "contacts permissions" to iPlum app in your mobile phone settings?
iPlum is a business app with privacy. For correct functioning of the caller-id, please allow the “contacts” permission to iPlum app in your iPhone/Android settings .
Add a new business contact?
In the iPlum app contact screen, make sure you are in the business tab. Tap “+” to add a business contact. Here you can also create business groups and assign them to various business contacts.
Add a new device contact?
Go to your device address book and add new contact. Open iPlum app and pull down to refresh. You will see the new contact in your iPlum app under device contacts section.
Create a business contact from device contact?
Open iPlum app and tap a contact in your device contacts. From the actions grid, tap “More”. On the details screen, tap “Add to Business”. This will create a business contact.
Add multiple business contacts?
First add all the contacts you want to load to the native address book on your phone via outlook or similar contacts application (PC or Mac). Open iPlum app and go to “device” contacts screen. You will see these contacts. Tap on each contact and click “Add to Business”. Once done, you can delete them from your phone’s native address book.
Edit a business contact?
Open a business contact detail in the iPlum app and click “Edit”. You will update changes and save.
Edit a device contact?
Device contacts are managed in your native address book. You would edit them in native iOS/Android device contacts. Once you open iPlum app after editing, it will show updated contact.
Groups setup for business contacts?
Groups can be used to send the same message to more than one business user without having to enter them each time. When you create groups in contacts, these groups are available in the texting module.
In the app’s business contact screen, tap “+” and select “Manage Groups”.
Click “+” to add a new group.
Go to a business contact, click “More” which will open its details and click “Edit”. Tap on the Groups text box and select the Group to link to this contact and save it.
Delete a business contact?
Open a business contact detail in the iPlum app and click “Edit”. You will see a Delete button at the bottom.
Delete a device contact?
Device contacts are managed in your native iOS/Android address book. Once you delete the device contact in native contacts, it will not show in iPlum app.

Switch the screen priority of device and business contacts in iPlum app?(iOS only feature)
Note: We recommend that you enable Contacts permissions for iPlum app in your iPhone or Android Settings. These permissions are required for correct Caller ID and Ringtones management.
What is the difference between regular & secure texting.
Regular texting works on all iPlum accounts and doesn’t need any special setup. The other side can have any texting application.
If you have purchased security and backup add-on plan for compliance, all text will be encrypted/secure at your side no matter the other end user application.
Secure texting can be used where both ends have iPlum app. It requires security and backup add-on plan for compliance on your account. Your clients gets free iPlum app when you invite them to join for secure texting.
Healthcare, finance or legal professionals can initiate a secure text channel with their clients for secure texting.
Group texting and broadcast texting?
Group texting and broadcast texting can be done for both regular and secure texting.
iPlum enables bidirectional group texting or straight broadcast (one to many). In broadcast mode the receiving users don't see each other. The broadcast switch is available in the “To” section of text screen in the app once you have more than 1 phone number in it. You can do secure texting or regular texting for both group or broadcast.
How to restore texting after reinstalling iPlum app?
If you install iPlum app on a new phone or you need to erase the app and reinstall, you can restore last 60 days texts in the app:
iPlum App || Settings || Text Options, Templates, Secure Channels || Text Restore
Note: You need security and backup plan on the line in order to restore text. The text are restored from the “date” the plan is active.

How to initiate secure text channel?
To initiate a secure text channel, you will invite your client using iPlum app business contact. The client will accept your invitation to set up secure channel with instructions to download iPlum app and setup a free account.
Create a new contact with your client’s mobile phone number or select an existing business contact in the iPlum app. iPlum App || Contacts || Business contact tab. Tap “+” to add a new business contact.
Initiate a secure channel request. iPlum App || Contacts || Business contact || More || Secure Text Channel Invite The system will send an invite SMS to the recipient with instructions to download iPlum app and accept invitation.
Your client will download free iPlum app, register using their mobile number and accept your invitation in the app. The secure channel is now active and ready for secure texting.
When you invite a business contact to setup secure channel, they will see below steps on their side.
How to accept secure text channel (Client-side free account)?
The client will receive an SMS from iPlum. This SMS has a link with steps to download iPlum app and create a free account using their mobile number.
Login iPlum app and look for blue colored business contact. Business contact || More || Accept Secure Text Channel Invite.
Invited and accepted contacts are created and saved in the iPlum app secure container.
After acceptance, the business contact will change to plum color and it will show a shield icon for secure texting.
How to delete secure text channel?
Simply delete the “Business” contact created for that secure channel in your iPlum app.
How to restore secure text channels, texts, business contacts?
Note: Restore secure text ‘channels’ is available for both free and paid iPlum accounts. But restore actual texts and business contacts requires iPlum Backup plan available via iPlum portal or in-app purchase.
Go to Settings in the iPlum app: Contacts Options || Business Contacts Restore. Text Options & Secure Channels || Text Restore. Text Options & Secure Channels || Restore Secure Channels.
Which backup plan is required for secure texting?
A backup plan is required for initiating secure channels but no plan is required for accepting secure channels.
