How to do secure texting with your clients using free account for them?

How to add a new business contact single or bulk upload?

Online portal:

Go to your “Contacts & Groups” and click “Add contact”. Here you can also create business groups and assign them to various business contacts.

iPlum portal has an option to upload multiple/bulk contacts in your iPlum account using a template file.

Click “Bulk upload contacts”. Download the template file, add contacts in it and upload the file.  These contacts will be available both in the portal and iPlum app business contacts.

Mobile app:  

Go to contact screen, make sure you are in the business tab. Tap “+” to add a business contact. Here you can also create business groups and assign them to various business contacts.

Or create a business contact from device contact in mobile app:

Open iPlum app, change to device contacts and tap a contact in it. From the actions grid, tap “More”. On the details screen, tap “Add to Business”. This will create a business contact. Once you copy a device contact to business contact, it is available in your iPlum portal as well.

How to initiate secure text channel?

Secure text channels are used for bidirectional encrypted texting. iPlum provides free account for your clients.

Online portal:

  1. Login to the portal.
  2. Go to “Contacts & Groups”.  Add a new business contact or  use an existing contact.    
  3. Select the contact and click “Secure text invite”. The system will send an invite SMS to the recipient with instructions to create a free account and accept invitation.  Your client login-id is  their physical mobile phone number. They can either download iPlum app to     register or create an account online at iPlum portal.  Both mobile app and portal access will work for them after they have created an account.      
  4. The secure channel is now active and ready for secure texting.

 

Mobile app:

  1. Create a new business contact with your client’s mobile phone number or select an existing business contact in the iPlum app:
        iPlum App || Contacts || Business contact tab. Tap “+” to add a new business contact.    
  2. Tap on the  business contact and click “more”.   Click “secure text channel invite”. The system will send an invite SMS to the recipient with instructions to create a free account and accept invitation. Your client login-id is their physical mobile phone number.  They can either download iPlum app to register or create an account online  at iPlum portal.  Both mobile app and portal access will work for them after they have created an account.          
  3. The secure  channel is now active and ready for secure texting.

App-less account for your clients.

By using above information, your clients can either create a free account online at iPlum portal or download iPlum mobile app from Apple app store or Google play.

Both mobile app and portal can be used for secure texting.  

How does your client accepts your invitation for secure text channel ?


When you initiate secure channel, iPlum system sends an invitation SMS on your behalf to your client.  e.g.

Your_Name (+1xxxxxxxx) has invited you to join iPlum for secure texting. To accept, click  https://my.iplum.com/xxxxxxxxxxxx

 

Note: Once your client clicks the link, they will see the below information on a web page to register.  

New client who never had an iPlum account before will see below:

iPlum Secure Text Invitation

You are invited to set up a free account to communicate with your provider. You can register online at iPlum portal or by downloading iPlum mobile app.

iPlum Portal
  1. Click link to start enrollment.
  2. Enter your mobile phone number as login ID +1xxxxxxxx and complete registration.
  3. After registration, click "Contacts & Groups" and look for "Secure Text Invitations" to accept invitation.
  4. Go to "Texting" and start texting this  contact. You can also download iPlum app and login as existing account.


Note: You do not need Texting Registration for free account.

Mobile App
  1. Download iPlum app on your mobile from Apple store or Google Play.
  2. Click "New User". Enter your mobile phone number as login ID +1xxxxxxxxx and complete registration
  3. After registration, look for blue colored business contact and tap to accept invitation.

        Business contact || More || Accept Secure Text Channel Invite
  4. The secure business contact will have a shield icon for secure texting.

An existing iPlum account user will see below:

iPlum Secure Text Invitation

  1. Login to the portal with your iPlum login ID +1xxxxxxxxxx.
  2. Click "Contacts & Groups" and look for "Secure Text Invitations" to accept invitation.

Mobile App
  1. Open iPlum app or login with ID +1xxxxxxxxxx.
  2. Look for blue colored business contact and tap to accept invitation.

  3. The secure business contact will have a shield icon for secure texting.

How to do secure texting once setup is complete?

iPlum Portal

Go to "Contacts & Groups".

Find your Secure contact & click it. You will see Shield icon on the right which will allow you to do secure texting with your client.  

Note: If you click the messaging icon, it will go as regular SMS


Mobile App

Go to Contacts in your iPlum mobile app. Make sure the "Business" section at the top is selected.

Find the secure contact and tap it.

You will see the shield icon for secure texting.

     

How to delete a secure text channel?

Simply delete the “Business” contact created for that secure channel in your iPlum app or iPlum portal.  Any existing conversation with that contact will not be deleted.

How to restore secure text channels, texts, business contacts in the iPlum app?

In a situation where you need to delete the mobile app, you can restore your information:

Mobile app: Settings || Backup Options

iPlum portal downloads your information when you login.  There is no restore required.

What are the prerequisites for secure texting, online portal contacts and online texting?

A. You will need Professional or Premium plan. If you are on older iPlum plan, you will need Security and Backup enhanced add-on plan.

To upgrade an existing plan, go to https://my.iplum.com/      

Login to iPlum account with your administrator credentials.

Dashboard|| Users|| Click iPlum Login ID of the Line || Plans.  

Click “Number Plan” and “Manage”.

B. Get Carrier TCR texting registration in your iPlum portal:

Go to https://my.iplum.com/ and login into iPlum account with your administrator credentials.
