Can I activate social media like Whatsapp or receive 2FA bank codes?
iPlum is a business app.
It is your dedicated mobile virtual number attached to the iPlum app for calling and texting.
All iPlum numbers are always enabled for SMS, MMS and Short codes.
If you are not receiving verify code from a particular company, please check with them. They may need physical mobile number due to enhanced security required by them.
Most vendors have alternative methods for verification.
4/1/2026: As an example to help our clients we have compiled a list of text 2FA alternatives for Bank of America authentication. Other financial institutions offer similar methods.
1. Digital ID (Push Notifications)
If you use the Bank of America Mobile Banking app, you can enable Digital ID.
- How it works: When you log in via a computer, the bank sends a "push notification" to your registered mobile app. You simply tap "Yes, it's me" in the app to authorize the login.
- Setup: Go to Security Center in the mobile app and look for Digital ID.
2. Passkeys
Bank of America supports passkeys, which allow you to log in using your device's native biometrics (FaceID, TouchID) or screen lock.
- Availability: These are typically managed through your browser (Chrome, Safari) or mobile OS (iOS/Android).
3. Windows Hello / Biometrics
If you are logging in from a personal computer running Windows, you can link Windows Hello (facial recognition or fingerprint) directly to your Online Banking profile for secure, passwordless access.
4. USB Security Keys (FIDO2)
This is arguably the most secure method BofA offers. You can register a physical hardware key (like a Yubico YubiKeyor Google Titan) to your account.
- How it works: Instead of typing a code, you plug the key into your USB port or tap it against your phone (via NFC) when prompted.
- Setup: You can find this under Security Center > Additional Security Features > Add a security key.
Your payment has been received and will be process!
